Learn To Act With The Theatre Arts Course
The Arts Courses offer something for everyone, with a wide variety of acting and drama classes, workshops and productions. Workshops and classes take place on weekday evenings for adults, and on Saturdays for Juniors aged 7-16. Covering all aspects of acting and stagecraft, the courses offer the chance to build confidence, develop acting techniques and take part in public and in-house performances and presentations.
The Norwich Theatre Royal Arts Courses have been running very successfully for over twenty-five years, originally at the Studio attached to the Theatre Royal and now in purpose-built premises at The Garage on Chapelfield North. The Garage houses the Studio Theatre space, a versatile performance venue adaptable to a wide variety of production styles and fitted out with the latest technical equipment, as well as classrooms and fully-equipped rehearsal rooms.
No experience is necessary – the main requirement is enthusiasm. While theatre can be fun, students are expected to make full commitment to each course. Dedication and hard work are essential, while teamwork and group effort are necessary to the success of a production or workshop.
Classes are held under the supervision of the Director and the staff – all of whom are professionally trained and experienced actors, directors and drama practitioners. Visiting professional tutors are often brought in to give workshops in specialised areas including stage combat, make-up, clowning, etc. The professional technical staff at the Theatre Royal also gives full backup for staged productions.
