Introduction to Scriptwriting 18+

Course | Stage Two




 

Learn about the craft of scriptwriting through masterclasses and workshops. The course provides opportunities to learn how to generate stories, create characters, write dialogue and structure scripts.

By the end of the course, you will have an extensive knowledge of dramaturgy, built up a portfolio of work and where appropriate will have had the opportunity to hear your own work in a shared reading by our own acting students. No writing experience necessary.

DATES: 28 April – 7 July 2020 (excluding half term on 26 May 2019)
DAYS & TIMES: Tuesdays 7-9pm, 10 weeks
COST: £120 per 10 week course

The course will be led by East Anglian scriptwriter James McDermott. James trained at UEA where he graduated with an MA (Distinction) in Scriptwriting. James has participated on The Royal Court Writers Program 2017 and Soho Theatre’s Writers Lab 2016. His short plays include ‘Fast Food’ starring Jude Law (Lyric Hammersmith), ‘Ordinary Boys’ (Royal Court) and ‘Man Hug’ (Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds). Following a critically acclaimed run at Pleasance Islington, James is currently touring the country with his solo play ‘Rubber Ring’ which won Pulse Festival’s Suitcase Prize 2017. James has taught scriptwriting at Norwich Theatre Royal, New Wolsey Ipswich and Greshams School.
