‘These tunes cover dreamy doo-wop and rock’n’roll, their swagger and style juxtaposed with the show’s slick, choreographed brutality.’ The Stage
‘Powerful, energetic, stimulating and fiery‘ Whats on Stage

Shakespeare goes rock and roll with Macbeth!

Passion, ambition and desire ignite in The Watermill's treatment of Macbeth. Fuelled by greed, ambition and desire, Macbeth’s desperation to survive is reflected in the fierce reverberations of Johnny Cash, The XX and The Rolling Stones. The Stones' "Paint it Black" intensifies Macbeth's ‘black and deep desires', "House of The Rising Sun" accompanies his drunk and dishevelled return home to his hotel of ill repute.

Passion, ambition and desire ignite in this thrilling tragedy!
