Young Producers is an exciting participatory programme for young people aged 16-25 years. As well as learning more about the role of Producers in theatres and wider afield in the creative industries, you will be supported to produce Norwich Theatre Royal’s TakeOver Festival each November (21st to 23rd Nov 2019, dates for 2020 t.b.c) and other events within the Theatre Royal family of venues. Young Producers are based in Stage Two, Norwich Theatre Royal’s purpose built Learning and Participation facility, but may work across all three of our venues, Norwich Theatre Royal, Stage Two and Norwich Playhouse.
Young Producers is a unique opportunity to get brilliant experience for your CV. You will learn more about what it means to be a Producer: from understanding the workings of the arts industry; to gaining leadership skills; to learning about producing theatre; and skills such as organising events, marketing, scheduling, artist liaison, business and communications.By becoming a Young Producer you will play also play a key role in the management and organisation of our TakeOver Festival. This is one of the best industry work experience opportunities out there for young people, emulated nationally. Run entirely by our Young Producers, they plan, program and deliver a theatre festival at Stage Two. Our Young Producers make all of the important decisions, organise and govern the festival on behalf of Norwich Theatre Royal.
We are looking for committed young people aged 16-25 who have great ideas and everyone is welcome! We would be particularly interested to hear from young people with an interest in any of the following: media arts, theatre and arts, press and marketing, graphic design, digital media, business management, finance and education and outreach.
You would need to be able to commit to attending regular fortnightly meetings on MONDAYS 5 - 6.30pm at Stage Two throughout the duration of January - November 2019 from the ideas stage right through to the festival and evaluation. You will also be invited to attend other events produced as part of the program.
